On 25 August 2009 the IFLA Professional Committee, together with the Italian Government will organise a special one day conference on the topic of digital collections and users under the title: Digital Library Futures: User Perspectives and Institutional Strategies. This one day conference is being planned in connection to the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Milan and will be held in the Università degli studi di Milano, Aula Magna in Milano, Italy from 09.00 - 18.00.  [Google map link]

The conference consists of a very interesting programme focused on digital collections and users and wants to trigger a discussion to understand challenges and to promote strategies for digital collections and services, responding to active user expectations. The conference programme is developed around three sessions: The digital library user experience -current user research; Towards a digital collection - engaging researchers and Strategies for institutions - responding to the digital challenge.

The capacity of the venue is limited to 250 places. Since the planning committee is aiming for a high level conference with a broad spectrum of stakeholders engaging in a lively discussion, attendance will be on invitation only.
